Every once in awhile all the elements that make for a good shoot come together and something better than anticipated results… on this February day the temperature, the light, the setting and my subjects could not have been better, resulting in a series of photos that ranks among my favorite of all time. I was so excited to edit these images that I finished them in one sitting… which is virtually unheard of for me anymore!
This is the second time I’ve photographed twins James and Victoria (more on that later) but the first time I’ve done a family shoot with not only their mum & dad, Clare and Adrian, but also their grandmother, Elizabeth, who was visiting the family from the UK! Originally from Great Britain, the family now lives in Blaine and often visits the beach at Semiahmoo, a place I have been itching to do a shoot since I discovered it a year and a half ago (see photos here.) The interesting structures and rich textures of the beach lend themselves to a fabulous backdrop… throw in a gorgeous, happy family with fun, inquisitive children and I could not be happier with these images!
Asher loves Semiahmoo and decided to join me for this shoot, which he hasn’t been interested in doing for quite some time! He even asked to use my spare camera and did some shooting of his own while I worked. Here’s me in action!
James and Victoria have been dropping stones and shells through this hole in the boardwalk for as long as they’ve been able : ) I really love shooting at places with sentimental meaning to my clients!
At the very end of our shoot, James and I decided to have some fun with the rapid fire function of my camera! I thought it would be fun to put the results together in to a little collage…
As soon as Victoria caught wind of what we were doing, she wanted to have some fun too!
As previously mentioned, this is the second time I photographed James and Victoria. The first was two and a half years ago when their playgroup invited me to join them for a shoot. The above photo was captured on that day and has always been one of my favorite sibling shots. You may recognize it from one of my earlier promo post cards!
