My New Buddy Jaxon

I met baby Jaxon and his mom & dad at a wedding I shot in August- as soon as I saw this little guy I knew I had to take his pictures, so I sidled right up to his ma and told her how cute he is! I gave her my card and hoped she would call. I was so happy when she did! We got together to capture the essence of Jax at age 6 months and had such a great time. I'm definitely looking forward to watching this little "pup" grow up : )

One brave mama!

With various scheduling roadblocks between us, Jen and I scrambled to meet for her maternity shoot just as she reached the 40 week "due any day" point. I love getting to document the belly at its biggest but this was a little ridiculous : ) It's been awhile since I have done an outdoor maternity shoot and my time with Jen reminded why I prefer it so much. It seems pregnancy is one of the only natural things we humans do anymore, what better place to photograph a pregnant belly than in the natural world? The colors and textures of the beach contrasting with smooth skin give these photographs so much more depth than studio shots.

I was so impressed that Jen enthusiastically went for topless shots despite curious onlookers and the cool November evening. She's one brave mama! I'm so glad she did because these photos are beautiful.

Fun in the leaves!

I just love the colors and textures that autumn lends to photographs and it seems every kid I meet loves playing in leaves as much as I do! I just did this shoot today but it was so successful (despite both of my camera batteries going dead an hour in-argh!) that I could not wait to process the photos and share them with everyone. What bunch of fun-loving, photogenic kids in this family!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Miss Malia!

My little friend Malia recently turned two and so last week we got together for the second year in a row to play and take some pictures. It was an unseasonably warm, bright, sunny autumn day and we had a great time playing on the slide, digging in the sand and exploring in the leaves! We discovered *right away* that we both have *exceptional* taste in footwear and anyone who knows me knows I just could not let two such fine pair of All Stars go without being photographed! The shot of her little pink shoes is the newest addition to my collection for greeting cards and I am sure it is going to be a big seller!

With her big blue eyes, pretty blonde hair and two year old sass, Malia was a joy to photograph! Here are a few pictures from our time together...

Keli & Jonathan

I've already booked my first wedding of next season! Keli & Jonathan will be wed on July 5 next summer at Tail Skid Meadows in Custer. I never knew this place existed until Keli told me about it so I am very excited to know there is a beautiful new outdoor location for weddings in Whatcom County! I have a feeling I might become very familiar with the folks at Tail Skid in the years to come : )

Since they are planning a summer wedding, Keli & Jonathan really wanted their engagement photos to reflect another season. We met a few weeks ago to discuss early wedding plans then had some fun with the leaves in Cornwall Park. Keli is a total natural with the camera (yey!) and once we got rolling, Jonathan was having a great time too. What an adorable couple! Here are a few of my favorites...

New favorites

September was such a crazy busy month for me that all of my desk time has been devoted to processing photos for clients. I've been wanting to upload some new pictures but I just haven't been able to justify spending time blogging! Today I am taking a few minutes to add some favorites I have taken in the past six weeks. How lucky am I to have so many beautiful and photogenic clients to work with?

Enjoy!
