Catching up!

In my dream world I would have time to blog photos from every one of my shoots but I've accepted that's just not going to happen! Now that it's officially the slow season, I have a little time to share a bit more of my work from over the past few months. It's always so hard to decide which photos to add to my blog... since I can't put up all of my favorites, I've added additional photos here!

The two photos above are now among my favorites. Zach & Taryn are two of my "Montessori Kids" as I met their family through my work with Gardenview Montessori (you can see more of my photos on the school's website!) This year Zach & Taryn's family wanted a beach scene for their family photos so we met up just before sunset at Boulevard Park. It was really cold but I could not ask for better lighting than we had that afternoon! I love the way the golden tones of the setting sun enhance the blues & browns of their clothing. The picture at top is one of my favorites, it was so cute when Taryn starting twirling her cute little skirt at the water's edge and was so happy that I caught this moment!

Another new favorite is this shot of my buddy Greg's son Finley. I stopped by Greg's house with my camera on a bit of a whim to catch some pictures of his kids and nephews. It became immediately obvious that Fin considered me nothing less than an intrusion into his playtime with his cousins but that didn't stop me : ) This one was shot after Fin had decided he was DONE and had gone inside to escape the camera, but then came to the (supposedly safe) window to ask Dad a question. Of course this one turned out to be the best photo of all!

I finally got to do a family shoot at the Christmas tree farm! I have been wanting to do this one for awhile. Tromping through the mud looking for just the right tree was a good time and the tree farm made a lovely backdrop for family photos. I love this shot of Jack determinedly trailing along right behind his dad and uncle, looking just like one of the big boys!

Another shot of Jack- I think this one speaks for itself... who can resist a plumber-butt on a three year old? Not me, that's for sure!

This is Jack's baby brother Carson (whose birth I photographed last March!) getting up close and personal with his grandma. I really love capturing sweet moments like these!

This photo of one year old Sophie and her big sister Morgan is proof positive that no one has to be looking at the camera to make a great shot!

Another one of my Montessori Kids! This is a very cold Isabella donning her mommy's fur collared jacket to warm up while we finished up the shoot. I love the way the pretty white fur frames her face- white always makes children look so angelic to me!

Jen was so excited about being pregnant and having her maternity portraits done that I first heard from her when she was in her first trimester... when I saw her tiny 37 weeks along belly I just couldn't believe it was already time for that baby to come! I had been wanting to do the pink/blue contrast in a maternity shoot and brought along my bright pink raincoat so I could experiment. I love the way it falls across Jen's breasts and belly!

This photo is definitely one that says 1000 words. In fact I could easily tell you 1000 words about how very happy I was when little Blake bent over to compare her tiny two year old belly to her pregnant mama's. I have always wanted to get a shot just like this and here it is!

This photo of 2 week old Jonah sucking on his mama's lip might be the sweetest newborn photo I've ever taken! It easily found its way onto my new promo card (see above.)

Little Conner is not much of a smiler but boy what an adventurer he is! I absolutely loved that his mom & dad didn't care at all how dirty he got throughout our shoot because "that's just Conner!" and capturing the essence of a little one's soul with my camera is what I was born to do : )Last one for now... I'm always trying to find new angles from which to photograph a pregnant belly and I just love this one of Sara. She is the first client I've had who has worked as a model in the past and was soooo good at flashing that beautiful smile right on cue!
