Sometimes procrastination works in your favor… like when Everly’s mom Lindsey and I talked for weeks about scheduling Evie’s one year photo shoot. As it turns out, it seems we were supposed to wait until Evie was actually thirteen-and-a-half months old and able to walk on her own two feet because what started as a photo shoot turned into Everly’s first downtown walkabout! Lindsey and I had long agreed it would be fun to dress Everly in her colorful birthday outfit and take to her to some of the places downtown where we did Lindsey’s maternity shoot. Unfortunately, my favorite of those places was lost forever to a fire just after Evie’s birthday in March – an unfortunate consequence of procrastination! Instead, we decided to venture into downtown’s alleys looking for textures and grit – the perfect juxtaposition for this bright and happy little girl! However, little Everly seemed to think her mama and I were crazy for taking her sweet, pretty self into those dark and grimy alleys and mostly used her newfound motor skills to haul herself into Mama’s arms! It wasn’t until we settled in for a sweet treat at Mallard Ice Cream that this little social butterfly began to show her true colors : )
Our adventure started well…
then quickly took a turn as we ventured into the first alley. This is Everly thinking “Why the heck are we here and what am I supposed to do now, ladies???”
And this is Everly running for comfort!
Later we found some balloons… which seemed to make everything alright …
until we arrived in the next alley!
She’s a girl after my own heart in those All Stars! of course I wore my matching shoes on this shoot : )
In this alley we found some cool art…
but Mama proved to be cooler.
Everly in her special birthday crown, made with love by Mama.
Another alley…. more confusion…
and a little protest!
Ice cream definitely makes things better… at least it does after you’ve suffered your first “brain freeze.” Poor kid!
Filled with creamy goodness, the flirty girl comes alive! Time to make some friends…
This girl L O V E S dogs. She tried to ride them. Every single one we met!
Meltdown on Holly Street. Don’t we all feel like doing this from time to time?
All’s well that ends well, no?
