Blue Eyed Brothers

One of the great things about being a personal photographer is that after my clients share their photos with their friends and family, they all want me to be their personal photographer too! These three handsome blue eyed boys came to me by way of their blue eyed cousin Malia (whose photos you can see here!) It was at my last shoot with Malia and her mom & dad that I learned of the recent addition to the family of twins Kieran & Lucas, so I was extremely excited when the boys' mama called last month to make an appointment. We were blessed with a beautiful late winter afternoon and after trying some indoor studio shots, we decided to hit the playground at Cornwall Park for some fresh air and sunshine. Big brother Jack and I had a ball running around the park while his parents tended to the little guys : ) Here are a few shots of my new blue eyed buddies!

One Big Sister & One Baby Brother

My friend Carolyn recently had a new baby boy and invited me over to visit last week to do his very first photo shoot for his birth announcement. Little Tristan is a bit of a fussy little guy right now, so while Mama settled him down, his big sister Blake and I entertained each other outside- climbing up & down the stairs & chasing our shadows on the sidewalk. I've worked with Blake several times since she was born and she is such a sweetie pie! The way her smile lights up her entire face is so heartwarming : )

After a bit of feeding and a little jammin' with Bob Marley, baby Tristan was ready for his turn. This guy weighed in at a whopping ten pounds, fourteen ounces at birth and is the biggest six week old I've ever worked with! I'm very excited to watch this big little guy grow and change in the months and years to come...

Jen & the Yellow Wall

It goes without saying that we photographers tend to look at the world a little differently than most people. One of the ways in which this is true is the way we scrutinize walls. Whenever I'm out & about, I'm always looking for a good wall to use as a backdrop for portraits. You might wonder, what makes a good wall? Of course not every wall is a good wall- some are pretty boring and many are too cluttered with stuff to be of any use. Color and texture are the two things I am looking for in a potential backdrop wall, so it didn't surprise me at all when my photographer friend Jen arrived at our shoot down on State Street exclaiming "We've got to use that yellow wall!" I'd tried it before but it just didn't work with the portraits I was taking at the time. I'd have to say this time the yellow wall provided the perfect backdrop for Jen's sassy little costume and her husband's beautiful red accordion, don't you agree?

This is my last shot of the day and I love it. I have a thing for taking pictures of people walking away from me and I had to get one Jen carrying this big accordion case in her crazy costume. It makes me wonder... who is that? Where has she come from? Where is she going? And of course, I love the colors & textures of the walls : )
